Donald was a piper

recorded: May 1983

“I first met old Davie Stewart in 1964 at a Glasgow folk club – he sang and told the stories of the bothy songs and I heard him tell this tale to the tune of the Drunken Piper. Davie said it was about a piper he met in the Great War, but I’m sure it was about himself as I understand he was a piper in that war and was invalided out. I dedicate this track to his memory.” Mick Broderick
